LITURGY COURSES
Celebrating the Order of Christian Funerals
(8 hours)
Based on The Order of Christian Funerals, this course
equips the participant with necessary pastoral and liturgical
skills to prepare and assist with the celebration of funeral
liturgies.
Celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage (12 hours)
Based on the Order for Celebrating Marriage, this course
enables participants to effectively assist couples in the
selection of ritual and musical elements for the wedding
liturgy.
Celebrating the Sacraments of Reconciliation and
Healing
(12 hours)
This course informs participants of the historical, theological,
and pastoral development of the sacraments of reconciliation and
anointing of the sick as a context for both sacramental and
non-sacramental liturgical celebrations.
Prerequisite class:
This course is open only to those who have already completed the
Liturgical Foundations Class.
Environment and Art (12 hours)
An
introduction to church documents and contemporary writings
related to environment and art in the Catholic Church.
This course will be especially beneficial for those who are
considering Church renovation and those who are responsible for
the environment in their parish church throughout the liturgical
year.
Eucharist
(18 hours)
A
study of the history and theology of the Eucharist.
Prerequisite class:
This course is open only to those who have already completed the
Liturgical Foundations Class.
Liturgical Foundations (20 hours)
A
study of the history of the liturgical life of the church and
introduction to the basic resources, tools, and method of
liturgical studies.
Liturgical Year (18 hours)
A
study of the history of the theology of Christian celebrations,
the development of the Church year and its meaning for Catholic
worship today.
Prerequisite class:
This course is open only to those who have already completed the
Liturgical Foundations Class.
Liturgy
of the Hours (10 hours)
A
study of the history, theology, and spirituality of the Liturgy
of the Hours. Special emphasis will be placed on the
celebration of the Hours at the parish level. A good way
to learn about this important liturgical prayer.
Implementing the
Rite of
Christian Initiation of Adults (20 hours)
A
course designed to provide parish leaders with a basic
understanding / appreciation of the Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults.
Sacramental Theology (12 hours)
The sacraments constitute the primary path to our sanctification
(1983 Code of Canon Law). This course will examine the
basis and experience of sacrament as the fundamental way in
which Christ continues to be personally present to and through
the Church.
Prerequisite class:
This course is open only to those who have already completed the
Liturgical Foundations Class.
Sacraments of Initiation (18 hours)
This course examines the process of entry into the Christian
Mystery through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
The Second Vatican Council
(20 hours)
This course examines the process of entry into the Christian
Mystery through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
