LITURGICAL MINISTRY COURSES

Designing Group Prayer Experiences (8 hours)
A course designed for you if you may ever get the opportunity to arrange a prayer service for a group. Whether the group is large or small, the same principles for group prayer apply, and if you know these principles, the task won’t seem too challenging.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Training – Level I
(6 hours)
This course offers an introduction to the origin and role of the extraordinary minister of the Eucharist.  In addition to a basic theology of the Eucharist as sacrifice and covenant meal, the practicalities of administering Holy Communion are examined.  Completion of this course entails certification by the diocese as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.  PASTOR’S PERMISSION REQUIRED.

Entrenamiento para Ministros Extraordinarios de la Sagrada ComuniónPrimero Nivel en español (6 horas)
Este curso ofrece una introducción al origen y el papel que desempeña el ministro extraordinario de la sagrada comunión.  Además de la teología básica de la Eucaristía como sacrificio y cena de la alianza, también se examinan los pasos practicos para administrar la Sagrada Comunión Acabamienta del curso impone certificación del dioceses para los ministerios extraordinario de la Sagrada Comunión.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Training – Level II
(4 hours)
Building on Eucharistic Minister Training – Level I, this course explores the development of a healthy Eucharistic spirituality.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Training – Level III
(6 hours)
SPECIAL TOPICS IN EUCHARISTIC THEOLOGY AND PRACTICE: This course will review the theology of Eucharistic Presence and the various practices of worship of the Eucharist outside of Mass: Eucharistic Exposition, Adoration, and Benediction; Communion Services outside of Mass, Eucharistic Processions and other elements of devotion, spirituality, and practice related to the Holy Eucharist.

Eucharistic Minister Training – Level IV (8 hours)
This course offers further help in growing in this ministry, both spiritually and practically through guided reflection on Immensae Cartitatis, The Rite of Commissioning, and other documents.

Interpersonal Dynamics of Pastoral Ministry (8 hours)
This course focuses on the importance of cooperation and communications skills in the world of parish ministry.

Lay Leadership of Public Prayer (12 hours)
This course is designed to prepare men and women to lead prayer by teaching the techniques, liturgical principles, and fundamental patters of prayer that provide the foundation to ensure a confident leader of prayer.

Lay Ministry in the Church (12 hours)
This course gives participants a basic understanding / appreciation of the origins / development of the practice of Lay Ministry in the Church, so that they can more effectively respond to their call.

Lector Training – Level I (6 hours)
This course offers an introduction to the ministry of Lector, including discernment of the call to this ministry and skills necessary for effective ministry within the liturgical assembly.  Pastor’s permission required.

Entrenamiento para Proclamadores de la Palabra (Lectores) – Primero Nivel en español (6 horas)
Este curso ofrece una introducción al ministerio del Proclamador de la Palabra, que incluye discernimiento del llamado a este ministerio y las aptitudes necesarias para un ministerio efectivo en la asamblea liturgica.  SE REQUIRE PERMISO DEL PASTOR.

Khóa Huấn Luyện Tác Vụ Đọc Sách – Khóa I (6 tiếng)

Mục đích của khóa này giới thiệu về chức vụ của thừa tác viên đọc sách và tìm hiểu về lời mời gọi trong việc mục vụ này, cũng như những khả năng cần thiết để tăng hiệu quả trong Thánh Lễ.  CẦN PHẢI CÓ SỰ ĐỒNG Ý CỦA LINH MỤC CHÁNH XỨ KHI THAM GIA KHÓA HUẤN LUYỆN NÀY.

Lector Training – Level II (6 hours)
Building on Lector Training – Level I, this course explores the theological and historical basis of the ministry of proclamation, including further honing of the skills of the proclaimer.

Lector Training – Level III (6 hours)
This course will present a general overview to the biblical literature with particular emphasis on the various literary genres found in the Bible.  Selected passages will be studied in order to better appreciate their original social/historical contents and how they might be understood by modern readers.

Lector Training- Level IV (6 hours)
This course offers a guided self-evaluation of the Lector as Servant of the Word and of the Assembly, including practical help in further growth in the ministry.

Liturgies with Children (12 hours)
A course designed to acquaint participants with the unique spirituality of children.  It also provides resources which will assist in the preparation of liturgical celebrations, particularly those which allow children to celebrate their faith, therefore, gradually becoming incorporated into the adult community.

Multicultural Liturgies (10 hours)
This course will enable participants to prepare and celebrate multicultural liturgies in their respective parishes.

Sacristan Training – Level I (6 hours)
This course examines the spirituality of working “behind the scenes” as a parish sacristan.  Includes instruction on the preparation of vessels, vestments, and liturgical books for the celebration of the Sunday Eucharist.

Sacristan Training – Level II (6 hours)
Building on Level I, this course focuses on the role of the sacristan in preparing for baptisms, weddings, funerals, Easter Vigil and other occasional parish rites.

Sacristan Training – Level III (6 hours)
Building on Sacristan Training – Level II, this course is designed for those who wish to serve as sacristan for diocesan celebrations, including the Rite of Election, Chrism Mass, Ordinations, Confirmations, and other diocesan liturgies.

Sacristan Training – Level IV (6 hours)
Completing the sacristan training, this course consists of on-site internship at the parish and diocesan level under the direction of an experienced sacristan.

Spanish for the Pastoral Leader (30 hours)
This basic Spanish course is designed to help participants communicate with our growing Hispanic population.

Conversational Spanish for Parish Life (16 hours)
A Conversational Spanish course geared for parish priests and employees.  Emphasis will be on the vocabulary and language structures.
PREREQUISITE CLASS:  This course is open only to those who completed a minimum of 22 hours of Spanish for the Pastoral Leader.

Usher/Greeter Training – Level I (3 hours)
A course which looks at the ministry of Hospitality and the key role played by the parish Ushers/Greeters in creating a welcoming atmosphere in the parish church.

Usher/Greeter Training – Level II (3 hours)
This course is a closer look at the skills introduced in Level I and includes discussion of the special needs of the physically challenged and persons from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
